הָיָה רָחוֹק מִבֵּית הַסְּקִילָה אַרְבַּע אַמּוֹת, מַפְשִׁיטִין אוֹתוֹ אֶת בְּגָדָיו. הָאִישׁ, מְכַסִּין אוֹתוֹ מִלְּפָנָיו. וְהָאִשָּׁה, מִלְּפָנֶיהָ וּמֵאַחֲרֶיהָ, דִּבְרֵי רַבִּי יְהוּדָה. וַחֲכָמִים אוֹמְרִים, הָאִישׁ נִסְקָל עָרֹם וְאֵין הָאִשָּׁה נִסְקֶלֶת עֲרֻמָּה:

In einem Abstand von vier Ellen von der Steinigungsstelle ziehen sie seine Kleidung aus [es steht geschrieben (3. Mose 24:23): "Und sie haben ihn gesteinigt" —ohne sein Gewand.] Ein Mann ist vorne bedeckt [dh ein kleiner Abschnitt vorne (seine Genitalien)] und eine Frau (ist bedeckt) vorne und hinten. Dies sind die Worte von R. Yehudah. [Die Halacha stimmt nicht mit R. Yehudah überein.] Und die Weisen sagen: Ein Mann wird nackt gesteinigt (mit Ausnahme dieser einen Region), aber eine Frau wird nicht nackt gesteinigt (dh sie muss vollständig bekleidet sein)].

Rebbi Abin said, unless the Holy One, praise to Him, made every place nice in the eyes of its inhabitants, the Land of Israel would never have been distributed. It was stated thus17Babli Soṭah 47a.: There are three graces. The grace of a woman in her husband’s eyes. The grace of a place in the eyes of its inhabitants. The grace of a buy in the eyes of its buyer. Rebbi Abba the son of Rebbi Pappaeus, Rebbi Joshua of Sikhnin in the name of Levi: Even in the future the Holy one, praise to Him, will do the same.
