וְאֵלּוּ דְבָרִים מִתְעַשְּׂרִין דְּמַאי בְּכָל מָקוֹם. הַדְּבֵלָה, וְהַתְּמָרִים, וְהֶחָרוּבִים, הָאֹרֶז, וְהַכַּמּוֹן. הָאֹרֶז שֶׁבְּחוּצָה לָאָרֶץ, כָּל הַמִּשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ מִמֶּנּוּ פָּטוּר:
E estas são as coisas a serem dízimas como Demai (produto do qual não se sabe se os dízimos já foram tirados) em todo lugar: os figos prensados, as tâmaras, as alfarrobeiras, o arroz e o cominho. Arroz cultivado fora da terra [de Israel], qualquer pessoa que o use é isento.
Tosefta Demai
Rice in its place (i.e., wherever it grows) is permitted [without tithing] in the harbor/suburb area (see Jastrow re חולת אנטכיא, following the GR"A) of Antioch. Rabbi Eliezer son of Rabbi Yosei says, "Rice in the harbor/suburb area of Antioch is permitted until Borek (=בורק, following the GR"A). (Cf. Dem. 2:1.)
