הַנִּכְנָס לִכְרַךְ מִתְפַּלֵּל שְׁתַּיִם, אַחַת בִּכְנִיסָתוֹ וְאַחַת בִּיצִיאָתוֹ. בֶּן עַזַּאי אוֹמֵר, אַרְבַּע, שְׁתַּיִם בִּכְנִיסָתוֹ וּשְׁתַּיִם בִּיצִיאָתוֹ, וְנוֹתֵן הוֹדָאָה לְשֶׁעָבַר, וְצוֹעֵק לֶעָתִיד לָבֹא:

Quem entra na cidade faz duas orações, uma ao entrar e outra ao sair. Ben Azzai diz: Quatro, dois ao entrar e dois ao sair. [Quando ele está prestes a entrar, ele diz: "... que você me leva a esta cidade em paz." Uma vez que ele entrou, ele disse: "Agradeço por ter me levado a esta cidade em paz"—dois ao entrar. Quando ele está prestes a sair, ele diz: "... que você me conduz desta cidade em paz". Depois que ele se foi, ele disse: "Agradeço por ter me levado desta cidade em paz."] E ele agradece o passado e clama pelo futuro. [Por que tudo isso? Pois é preciso agradecer ao Criador pelo bem que ele experimentou e deve orar pelo bem no futuro.]

The Beracha (blessing) of Zimun is from the Torah (i.e. a Torah obligation) as it is said, “And you should eat, and be satisfied, and bless…” (Deuteronomy 8:10), this is [a reference to] the Beracha of Zimun. “… Hashem, your God …” (Deuteronomy 8:10), this is [a reference to] the first Beracha [of Birkat Hamazon (Grace After Meals)]. “… for the land …” (Deuteronomy 8:10), this is [a reference to] the Beracha about the land (i.e. the second Beracha) [of Birkat Hamazon]. “… the good …” (Deuteronomy 8:10), this is [a reference to the Beracha about] Jerusalem (i.e. the third Beracha) [of Birkat Hamazon] as it is said “… this good mountain and Levanon.” (Deuteronomy 3:25). “… which He has given you.” (Deuteronomy 8:10), this is [a reference to the Beracha of] Hatov Vehameitiv (The Good and Who does good) (i.e. the fourth Beracha) [of Birkat Hamazon].
