שְׁלֹשָׁה מַפָּצִים הֵן. הָעֲשׂוּיָה לִישִׁיבָה, טְמֵאָה מִדְרָס. שֶׁל צַבָּעִין, טָמֵא טְמֵא מֵת. וְשֶׁל גִּתּוֹת, טָהוֹר מִכְּלוּם:
Istnieją trzy rodzaje mat: jedna przeznaczona do siedzenia jest podatna na zanieczyszczenia midras ; osoba należąca do farbiarzy jest podatna na zanieczyszczenie zwłok; a jeden używany w prasach do wina jest czysty od wszelkich [rodzajów zanieczyszczeń].

מפצים (mat of reeds/poor man’s mattress) – like a kind of matting made from a species of rush (so named from its sharp edges) and from fibrous substance and reed and bulrush/papyrus and similar kinds of things.
