מָזְגוּ לוֹ כוֹס רִאשׁוֹן, בֵּית שַׁמַּאי אוֹמְרִים, מְבָרֵךְ עַל הַיּוֹם, וְאַחַר כָּךְ מְבָרֵךְ עַל הַיָּיִן. וּבֵית הִלֵּל אוֹמְרִים, מְבָרֵךְ עַל הַיַּיִן, וְאַחַר כָּךְ מְבָרֵךְ עַל הַיּוֹם:
Nalali mu pierwszą filiżankę. Beth Shammai mówi: Najpierw błogosławi dzień [kidusz dnia], a potem wino [„bori p'ri hagafen”]. Najpierw bowiem jest uświęcenie dnia, a potem wino. I tak jak poprzedza wejście, tak i błogosławieństwo.] I Beth Hillel mówi: Najpierw błogosławi wino, a potem błogosławi w ciągu dnia. [To samo dotyczy tego, kto robi kidusz na bochenku (zamiast na winie). Bo to wino lub bochenek wywołują kidusz w ciągu dnia, a kidusza nie ma bez wina lub bochenka.]
Tosefta Pesachim
They mix him the first cup. Beit Shammai says, he blesses on the day and then he blesses on the wine, because the holiday is the direct reason for drinking the wine, and the holiday had already started when the wine was brought to the table. Beit Hillel says, he blesses on the wine and then he blesses on the day, because if we didn't have the wine we wouldn't be saying Kiddush on the holiday at all. Another explanation: the blessing on wine is regularly said and the blessing on the holiday is not. And the halacha is according to Beit Hillel.
