זָרַע אֶת אַחַת מֵהֶן, פָּטוּר, וְהַשְּׁנִיָּה, נוֹהֵג בָּהּ בִּתְרוּמָה, וְחַיֶּבֶת בְּחַלָּה, דִּבְרֵי רַבִּי מֵאִיר. וְרַבִּי יוֹסֵי פּוֹטֵר. זָרַע אַחֵר אֶת הַשְּׁנִיָּה, פָּטוּר. זָרַע אֶחָד אֶת שְׁתֵּיהֶן, בְּדָבָר שֶׁזַּרְעוֹ כָלֶה, מֻתָּר, וּבְדָבָר שֶׁאֵין זַרְעוֹ כָלֶה. אָסוּר:
Uno che ha usato uno di questi [cestini] come seme, è esente, e il secondo è trattato come se fosse Teruma e richiede Challah , le parole del rabbino Meir. Ma il rabbino Yosi esenta. Se un'altra persona usa il secondo come seme, è esente. Se un uomo usa entrambi come seme, se è del tipo il cui seme si disintegra [nel terreno] è permesso, ma se è del tipo il cui seme non si disintegra è proibito.
Tosefta Demai
Planting untithed [seeds] is prohibited, as is covering up untithed [seeds with dirt], as well as making [a partnership] with a Gentile with [respect to planting] untithed [seeds]. A Jew who forgot and planted untithed [seeds], they are exempt before they sprout because [the seeds] have already perished (cf. Ter. 7:7). One who buys [produce] for livestock, for wild animals, and for fowl is exempt from Demai.
