Tosefta su Demai 2:1
וְאֵלּוּ דְבָרִים מִתְעַשְּׂרִין דְּמַאי בְּכָל מָקוֹם. הַדְּבֵלָה, וְהַתְּמָרִים, וְהֶחָרוּבִים, הָאֹרֶז, וְהַכַּמּוֹן. הָאֹרֶז שֶׁבְּחוּצָה לָאָרֶץ, כָּל הַמִּשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ מִמֶּנּוּ פָּטוּר:
E queste sono le cose da decima come Demai [prodotto da cui non è certo se le decime fossero già state prese] in ogni luogo: i fichi pressati e le date e le carrube, il riso e il cumino. Riso coltivato fuori dalla terra [di Israele], chiunque lo usi è esente.
Tosefta Demai
Rice in its place (i.e., wherever it grows) is permitted [without tithing] in the harbor/suburb area (see Jastrow re חולת אנטכיא, following the GR"A) of Antioch. Rabbi Eliezer son of Rabbi Yosei says, "Rice in the harbor/suburb area of Antioch is permitted until Borek (=בורק, following the GR"A). (Cf. Dem. 2:1.)
