כֵּלִים שֶׁבֵּין שִׂפְתֵי כְפִישָׁה לְבֵין שִׂפְתֵי הֶחָדוּת, אֲפִלּוּ עַד הַתְּהוֹם, טְהוֹרִים. טֻמְאָה שָׁם, הַבַּיִת טָמֵא. טֻמְאָה בַבַּיִת, כֵּלִים שֶׁבְּכָתְלֵי הֶחָדוּת, אִם יֵשׁ בִּמְקוֹמָן טֶפַח עַל טֶפַח עַל רוּם טֶפַח, טְהוֹרִים. וְאִם לָאו, טְמֵאִים. אִם הָיוּ כָתְלֵי הֶחָדוּת רְחָבִים מִשֶּׁל בַּיִת, בֵּין כָּךְ וּבֵין כָּךְ טְהוֹרִים:

Le navi che si trovano tra i bordi di un cesto e i bordi di una cisterna, anche fino alle profondità, sono pure. Se ci fosse impurità lì, la casa sarebbe impura. Se nella casa c'erano impurità, vasi nelle pareti della cisterna, se al loro posto c'era uno spazio che è un soffio di una mano di una larghezza di una mano, sono puri, ma in caso contrario sono impuri. Se le pareti della cisterna erano più spesse della casa, in entrambi i casi sono pure.

Mishnah Kelim

The following vessels protect their contents when they have a tightly fitting cover: those made of cattle dung, of stone, of clay, of earthenware, of sodium carbonate, of the bones of a fish or of its skin, or of the bones of any animal of the sea or of its skin, and wooden vessels that are always clean. They protect whether the covers close their mouths or their sides, whether they stand on their bottoms or lean on their sides. If they were turned over with their mouths downwards they afford protection to all that is beneath them to the nethermost deep. Rabbi Eliezer declares this unclean. These protect everything, except that an earthen vessel protects only foods, liquids and earthen vessels.
