שְׁלֹשָׁה דְבָרִים אָמַר רַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל וְלֹא הוֹדָה לוֹ רַבִּי עֲקִיבָא. הַשּׁוּם וְהַבֹּסֶר וְהַמְּלִילוֹת שֶׁרִסְּקָן מִבְּעוֹד יוֹם, שֶׁרַבִּי יִשְׁמָעֵאל אוֹמֵר, יִגְמֹר מִשֶּׁתֶּחְשָׁךְ, וְרַבִּי עֲקִיבָא אוֹמֵר, לֹא יִגְמֹר:
Drei Gegenstände wurden von R. Yishmael erwähnt, und R. Akiva stimmte ihm nicht zu, nämlich: Knoblauch, unreife Trauben und unreife Ohren, die am Vorabend des Sabbats [mit Steinen] beschwert wurden [so dass ihr Saft ablief sie zum Eintauchen (am Sabbat)] —R. Yishmael sagt: [da er sie vor dem Sabbat gewogen und zerkleinert hat], kann er sie nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit [am Sabbat] beenden [und essen]. Und diese sind nicht wie Säfte, die (aus Früchten) flossen, die verboten sind (am Sabbat gegessen zu werden), damit er nicht kommt, um (die Früchte) zu quetschen. Denn hier, selbst wenn er es drückt, übertritt er kein Tora-Problem, da der Saft von selbst herausfließt.] Und R. Akiva sys: Er kann nicht fertig werden, [um es zu essen, nachdem er den Tag geheiligt hat denn sie sind verboten wie alle Säfte, die (aus Früchten) herausgeflossen sind. Die Halacha stimmt mit R. Garlic or unripe grapes or green ears of grain were being crushed [on the eve of the Sabbath] while it is yet day: Rabbi Yishmael says: “He may finish crushing after it grows dark.” But Rabbi Akiba says: “He may not finish.” According to Rabbi Yishmael, if a person began crushing garlic, unripe grapes or green ears of grain before the Sabbath, he may continue to do so on the Sabbath. It would be forbidden to begin to crush these things on the Sabbath, since crushing and squeezing to get the juice out of produce is forbidden. However, since he began crushing them before the Sabbath, and the liquid is already starting to come out, he may continue to do so. The liquid from these things would be used for certain types of dips. Rabbi Akiva forbids this. According to him, just as it is forbidden to begin to crush, so too it is forbidden to continue crushing.
