הַטֶּבֶל, גִּדּוּלָיו מֻתָּרִין בְּדָבָר שֶׁזַּרְעוֹ כָלֶה. אֲבָל בְּדָבָר שֶׁאֵין זַרְעוֹ כָלֶה, גִּדּוּלֵי גִדּוּלִין, אֲסוּרִין. אֵיזֶהוּ דָבָר שֶׁאֵין זַרְעוֹ כָלֶה, כְּגוֹן הַלּוּף וְהַשּׁוּם וְהַבְּצָלִים. רַבִּי יְהוּדָה אוֹמֵר, הַשּׁוּם, כַּשְּׂעוֹרִים:

Prodotti non decimati, le sue crescite sono consentite in un tipo il cui seme si disintegra. Ma in un genere il cui seme non si disintegra, [anche] le crescite delle sue crescite sono vietate. Qual è un tipo il cui seme non si disintegra? Ad esempio, Luf [pianta], aglio e cipolle. Il rabbino Yehudah dice: le cipolle sono come l'orzo.
