Rebbi Joḥanan said, all these 40 days which Moses spent on the Mountain, he studied Torah and forgot it. At the end it was given to him as a gift. Why so much? To return the stupid ones²⁷¹To encourage people who do not understand a subject to return to study; they can always hope that at the end the understanding will be given to them in their sleep. The argument would be better if addressed to scientists who fail to solve a problem; if they persevere they have the hope to finally receive the answer from Heaven in their sleep..
