Tosefta for Demai 2:1
וְאֵלּוּ דְבָרִים מִתְעַשְּׂרִין דְּמַאי בְּכָל מָקוֹם. הַדְּבֵלָה, וְהַתְּמָרִים, וְהֶחָרוּבִים, הָאֹרֶז, וְהַכַּמּוֹן. הָאֹרֶז שֶׁבְּחוּצָה לָאָרֶץ, כָּל הַמִּשְׁתַּמֵּשׁ מִמֶּנּוּ פָּטוּר:
And these are the things to be tithed as <i>Demai</i> [produce from which it is uncertain if tithes were already taken] in every place: the pressed figs, and the dates, and the carobs, the rice, and the cumin. Rice grown outside the land [of Israel], anyone who uses it is exempt.
Tosefta Demai
Rice in its place (i.e., wherever it grows) is permitted [without tithing] in the harbor/suburb area (see Jastrow re חולת אנטכיא, following the GR"A) of Antioch. Rabbi Eliezer son of Rabbi Yosei says, "Rice in the harbor/suburb area of Antioch is permitted until Borek (=בורק, following the GR"A). (Cf. Dem. 2:1.)
