יוֹחָנָן כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הֶעֱבִיר הוֹדָיוֹת הַמַּעֲשֵׂר. אַף הוּא בִּטֵּל אֶת הַמְעוֹרְרִים, וְאֶת הַנּוֹקְפִים. וְעַד יָמָיו הָיָה פַטִּישׁ מַכֶּה בִירוּשָׁלָיִם, וּבְיָמָיו אֵין אָדָם צָרִיךְ לִשְׁאוֹל עַל הַדְּמָאי:
Jochanan, Arcykapłan, odrzucił wyznanie dziesięciny. Wyeliminował także tych, którzy recytowali werset „Obudź się” i kołatki [cieląt ofiarnych]. Aż do jego dnia młot bił w Jerozolimie. W jego czasach nikt nie musiał pytać o Demai [produkty, z których nie jest pewne, czy dziesięcina została już pobrana].
Tosefta Demai
They [may bring their grain to be] milled and stored (מפקידין not מרקידין, see Git. 61b.1) at the place of those that eat seventh-year produce, and at the place of those who eat their own produce in a state of impurity (ibid.), but they may not mill [produce] for those who eat seventh-year produce or those who eat their own produce in a state of impurity.
