הָיְתָה גְבוֹהָה מִן הָאָרֶץ טֶפַח, טֻמְאָה תַחְתֶּיהָ אוֹ בַבַּיִת אוֹ בְתוֹכָהּ, הַכֹּל טָמֵא, אֶלָּא גַבָּהּ. עַל גַּבָּהּ, כְּנֶגְדּוֹ עַד הָרָקִיעַ טָמֵא:

If it [a vessel] was a hand-breadth above the ground and there was impurity beneath it, or in the house or inside it, everything is impure except for on top of it. If it was on top of it, opposite it to the firmament is impure.
