Commentary for Oholot 9:7

When is this the case? When it is a hollow vessel. If it was broken and plugged with straw or if it was pressed - what is considered covered? Anything that does not have a hand-breadth from another place - if a [piece the size of] an olive is placed beneath it, opposite it down to the depths is impure. If on top of it, opposite it up to the firmament is impure. If [it is] inside it or in the house, its inside and the house are impure.
